Using the MRS in Patient Onboarding & Pre-Appointment Reminders

Updated over 2 weeks ago

What is the MRS and why should we use it?

The Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) is a validated, 11-question clinical assessment used to capture the severity of menopause-related symptoms across somatic, psychological, and urogenital domains.
Using the MRS before visits helps clinicians:

  • Start appointments with structured, quantified symptom data

  • Reduce reliance on patient recall

  • Support documentation, tracking, and follow-up over time

Where can I get my organization's MRS invite link?

Each practice has a unique, branded MRS invite link available in Platform Settings under the Organization tab.

  • The link is practice-specific and patient-friendly

  • No login or app download is required for patients

  • Patients can complete it on mobile or desktop

When is the best time to send the MRS to patients?

Before the appointment is best.

We recommend including the MRS:

  • During new patient onboarding

  • In pre-appointment reminders (3–7 days before the visit)

  • Before annual visits, medication changes, or follow-ups

Completing it ahead of time allows clinicians to review results before or at the start of the visit.

Where should we include the MRS link?

The MRS link can be used anywhere you already communicate with patients, including:

  • Email reminders

  • Text/SMS messages

  • New patient onboarding emails

  • EHR messages or intake workflows

  • Printed handouts or QR codes

The link is branded and safe to share across any medium.

What’s the best way to introduce it to patients?

Keep it simple.

For example:

“Before your upcoming visit, please complete this brief menopause symptom questionnaire so your provider can review your responses in advance.”

Patients are more likely to complete the MRS when they understand it directly supports their visit.

How long does the MRS take to complete?

Most patients complete the MRS in 5 minutes or less.

What happens after a patient completes the MRS?

Once submitted:

  • Responses are structured and scored automatically

  • Results are available for clinician review

  • Responses are tracked overtime in the Amissa Platform

  • Scores can be used to guide discussion, documentation, and follow-up

Can we send the MRS more than once?

Yes. The MRS is designed for longitudinal use.

Many practices re-send it:

  • At follow-up visits

  • Every 3–6 months

  • After treatment or lifestyle changes

This allows symptom trends and treatment response to be tracked over time.
