What happens to patient data if they decide to delete their account?

When a patient chooses to delete their Amissa account, their personal access to the app and its features is removed. This means they can no longer log in or view their stored health information.

Here is what happens to different types of data:

Access removal

After account deletion, the patient can no longer:

  • Sign in to the Amissa app

  • Access their health history through Amissa

  • Share new data with providers or researchers

Provider records

Data that was already shared with a patient’s healthcare provider remains in the provider’s clinical records as required for care, billing, and regulatory purposes.

Amissa does not remove data held by providers when a patient deletes their account because this information may be part of the official medical record.

Research data

If the patient previously consented to share de-identified data for research, that de-identified data may remain part of existing research datasets. No new data will be shared after account deletion.

De-identified data cannot be linked back to a specific patient.

No marketing use

Amissa does not sell patient data to advertisers, marketers, or third parties for commercial purposes. This policy remains in place whether an account is active or deleted.

Where to go

Patients can delete their account at any time from the account settings in the Amissa app. For help with account deletion or questions about data removal, they can contact Amissa support through the Help Center.
